The Marine Mammal Center of Northern California
I volunteered for The Marine Mammal Center at its retail store on Pier 39 and with the mammals at the hospital in Sausalito in 1999. The center rescues and researches marine mammals that strand along California's coast from San Luis Obispo County to the Oregon border.
Patients include dolphins, otters, seals and sea lions, and the occasional turtle. Helping patients such as Rainbow, a Guadalupe fur seal pictured below, make it all worthwhile!
